Cut the Lighter Butane, I-Tal Hempwick

One of our favorite products that we picked up at the 2012 High Times Cannabis Cup in San Francisco is I-Tal’s Hempwick.  Hempwick is a thin hemp cord coated in beeswax that you use to burn your bud instead of directly using a lighter.  When you use a butane lighter, you are inhaling some butane fumes that taint the flavor of your favorite weed.  Using the Hempwick, all that gets added to your flavor is more hemp and a little natural beeswax.

You can definitely taste the difference (especially in a nicely cleaned bowl or bong).  One major caveat, make sure you extinguish the Hempwick before you set it down, it is designed to burn well and could easily start a fire if not tended to properly (reminds me of trying to smoke with a Zippo many years ago, mid-bong hit you realize you’ve got a flaming lighter in your hand that is designed to stay lit…a huge change from using a Bic that extinguishes when you release the button).
